M&D: As you advanced in the competition, what did you feel was at stake? Did you have second thoughts about motive, integrity, etc? Reality TV, despite its potential for ridiculousness, definitely rouses some strong opinons. How did this play out with those around you — did people give you shit, and if so, why?

YJK: Some people gave me shit and others were super rooting for me. I showed the tape I’d made to a friend of mine, and she had a really adverse reaction because she felt that it was good and that I would
get in. Initially, it was hurtful, but later on, we talked and I knew that she was just being protective over me, which was really touching. I think that was the case with the people who were against my doing
it, that they just didn’t want me to get hurt. It was stressful — I struggled with myself throughout.
